Best of 2014: Television
TOP 3 TV SHOWS OF 2014
MY MAD FAT DIARY, SERIES 2
Admittedly,
My Mad Fat Diary'
s second series wasn't as well developed and emotionally gut-wrenching as the first but the show is still astounding.Rae's struggles with self-esteem, eating disorders, suicide, grief and mental disorders continued to resonate with me on an extremely intimate level. Certain scenes just blown me away because I often experienced the same feelings. I love seeing my own issues reflected in Rae because as daunting as it is to see my anxieties on television, it's also extremely comforting and hopeful.
My Mad Fat Diary
is a stunning
example of how television can be inspiring as well as entertaining and heartwarming. If Rae can overcome her issues enough to finally open herself up to another person, there may be hope for the rest of us.Also, the attractive popular boy pining for the overweight girl? How often do we get to see that? It's so refreshing and wonderful to see a show accept all body types.
VEEP, SEASON 3
Veep
gets more hilarious every season. How does Armando Iannucci do it?I absolutely loved every episode and every outrageous face Selina or Gary pulled. I can't wait for another season of hilariously witty insults for me to wish I could come up with myself.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, SEASON 2
Entertaining, compelling, and hilarious with a diverse cast of talented women.See my
but when isn't that week of binge watching
Orange is the New Black
a great experience?
As for 2015...I'm excited for the great television that will hopefully be coming in the new year!
